OK, so you can’t book a table at The French Kitchen or drop by on a whim but it is, without a doubt, the most beautiful new dining room in New Zealand. The private room at The French Café in Auckland opened in 2013 to cater to small groups and private events. It’s nothing like the award-winning restaurant’s main dining room, which is monochromatic and slightly austere, but it sports the same faultless food and service thanks to owners Simon Wright and Creghan Molloy Wright.
The room, which can accommodate up to 30 people, is warm, carefully considered and Nordic. Designed by Katie Lockhart, it is furnished with custom-made wooden cabinetry by Grant Bailey, chairs from Pols Potten, artworks by Antonio Murado and pendant lights by Whanganui artist Katie Brown. Wangle yourselves an invite to a party there immediately.
